2445 Fifth Avenue
San Diego, California
Randal Ehm served as Production Architect on this 40,000 square foot Class A office building in the Banker's Hill neighborhood, with panoramic views of Downtown San Diego, San Diego Bay, Point Loma and the Pacific Ocean.

Hart Toys Headquarters
Vancouver, Washington
Ehm Architecture designed this project for the late toymaker LeRoy Hart. We began with a simple base model, then created a kit of parts representing toys that Mr, Hart could play with to determine his favorite design elements. This is the more conservative of the three design schemes we produced. A play court at the center of the building allows researchers to watch children at play in a low-pressure and highly creative setting.

Hancock Medical Center
Murrieta, California
We served as Architect for this 24,000 square foot Class A medical office building in 2008. The building features a pharmacy, a deli, an x-ray facility, medical and dental offices, physical therapy facilities and an aqua therapy pool.

Mirage Ranch Office Complex
Rancho Mirage, California
We have completed a feasibility study on a five-acre property in Rancho Mirage. While the owner now intends to develop a luxury hotel, which we have also designed, this concept proposed a two-story, 84,000 square foot Class A office complex. The $12 million project featured two gourmet delicatessen, a full-service exercise facility with locker rooms, a 2,000 square foot conference center and a subterranean parking structure. A roof deck for outdoor meetings and special events offered views of the adjacent desert wash and surrounding mountains.

Post-Earthquake Office Park
Palm Springs, California
The design concept for this unbuilt Class A office complex was true to it's namesake, with twisted bell towers, large "seismic retrofit" wedges across the roof and a boulder which is seemingly thrust up from beneath the Earth to support a piece of the "original parking lot" asphalt -- which serves as a canopy.

This eye-level view at the site entrance gives a closeup image of the dynamic, sculptural nature of the design concept. This building was to have housed the California State Board of Equalization's local office.

Ascent Real Estate
San Diego, California
We designed this 6,800 square foot tenant improvement for an upstart real estate company in 2005. The 85-agent realty office includes an annex for 30 mortgage and lending service agents.

Ehm Architecture
San Diego, California
Principal Architect Randal Ehm designed and built this tenant improvement for his office in Mission Hills. He completed the work in one month. The project features Japanese shoji screens for which Randal designed hand-forged steel floor mounts, and perforated light screens that were fabricated by Art of Blacksmithing Design. The light screens reduce the visual impact of existing fluorescent light fixtures, which were retained for economy and practicality. Mr. Ehm purchased the office building in 1999.

Heffler Building
National City, California
We designed this 12,000 square foot office building for a general contractor in 2007. The facility allowed for location of all company departments under the same roof, and offers office space for subcontractors regularly doing business with the company. Project features include a two-story atrium with water wall and indoor plantscaping, meeting facilities with state-of-the-art videoconferencing technology, and a cafeteria with wet bar for evening social functions hosted by the company. We incorporated green building technologies and materials, to make this facility both sustainable and highly energy efficient.

On Ballard
Seattle, Washington
We renovated this 10-unit apartment building over ground-floor retail, which was home to Seattle's first Chinese Laundry. The street level now contains a custom steel fabrication shop. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.
